There’s a whole science behind link building. Search engines apply scientific algorithms to calculate page rankings which mostly involves determining the relationships between pages by links. In order to achieve the end results – high rankings, we have to reverse engineer the process. That’s where link building methods come in.

There are many methods on how to get backlinks. Unfortunately most take the easy way out – spamming. But those aside, there are scientific link building methods that produce effective results. These include but are not limited to:

• n-tier link exchanges
• sub-networks
• syndication and aggregation networks
• link bait strategies

Each method can have a book written of its own, but my goal is to illustrate that link building is not as simple as spamming the web and there’s a lot of knowledge to be acquired on this subject.
